On January 13, 1877, a cowboy killed a soldier in a dancehall brawl.  The cowboy was James Riley, aka Doc Middleton.  Middleton escaped the Sidney lawmen and quickly became the most colorful outlaw in Nebraska, with a Robin Hood-like reputation. The life and times of Doc Middleton is an untold and original western tale.  Unlike other outlaws, Doc lived to be 63, and watched all his friends and loved ones pass away.  In that sense the script is a fascinating character study of a flawed man, living day-by-day just like anyone else, with the distinction of being an outlaw.

The film, researched and written over the past several years by Mr. David Higgins, is based on his true story.
